A Preview of GeneXus Next 2026.01 was released on March 31, including GeneXus for Agents as a key component.

GeneXus for Agents introduces a new set of capabilities that enable AI agents to operate on GeneXus Knowledge Bases in a controlled manner, with platform-specific context and while preserving the guarantees of the GeneXus deterministic engine.

In practice, this means your development teams can incorporate coding agents—such as Globant CODA, OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code—into their GeneXus workflows, without relying exclusively on the IDE and without losing any of the guarantees provided by the deterministic generation engine.

What does this preview include?

GeneXus Skills: Rules, conventions, and tools that allow LLMs to understand and work with GeneXus artifacts consistently.
GeneXus MCP Server: A standard interface (Model Context Protocol) that enables any compatible agent to access the Knowledge Base: read objects, propose and implement changes, and compile.

What changes and what remains the same?

What changes is how the Knowledge Base is accessed. In addition to the IDE, you can now work through a CLI using any compatible LLM, benefiting from increased productivity, ease of use, and access to new technologies.
What does not change is the GeneXus engine. Code generation remains deterministic and reliable, both for the creation and evolution of enterprise systems. All semantic validations, normalization, and impact analysis continue to apply. Agents propose; GeneXus validates and generates deterministically.

Compatibility

GeneXus for Agents can be used with Knowledge Bases from GeneXus Next, and will be available for GeneXus 18 in the coming weeks. There is no lock-in to any specific LLM or agent.
The macOS x64 installer is no longer distributed, while the macOS arm64 version remains available. The decision was based on the low adoption rate of the macOS x64 version and the availability of an alternative: GeneXus Next Desktop Browser App (containerized and browser-based). (SAC #61528)
