Discover some of GeneXus Next's most exciting innovations and benefits. These features enhance the powerful capabilities that GeneXus has always delivered.

Cross-Platform

You can run GeneXus Next on Mac, Windows, or Linux. The core of GeneXus has been rewritten in .NET 8.0, and is fully 64-bit, giving way to this new cross-platform edition and opening doors to a wider audience.

UI Layer Redesign

The User Interface layer has undergone a transformative update. Reimagined using cutting-edge web technologies, it delivers a sleek, intuitive interface and includes a fully integrated Dark Mode for a seamless, modern experience.

At the core of this redesign is Mercury, GeneXus' open-source design system. Mercury provides a cohesive, scalable, and visually compelling design framework, built to meet the diverse needs of both developers and end users.

Installation on Local Infrastructure

The most important component of GeneXus Next is GeneXus Next Desktop.

GeneXus Next Desktop

GeneXus Next Desktop is a complete rewrite of GeneXus (the one you've been using since GeneXus X) in every aspect.

It can be installed on any platform, such as Mac, Windows, or Linux, to have a local infrastructure that doesn't require an Internet connection (except when using AI assistants for free).

AI-assisted development (using Nexa)

GeneXus Next Desktop includes Nexa, which assists you in creating GeneXus objects, updating them, and performing configurations and codifications. For example, Nexa can help you model the database (i.e. create Transaction objects) and define queries (i.e. create Query objects). More importantly, it contains a complete and extensible engine capable of handling the growing demand for assistants and linking them correctly.

Agentic Software construction

In addition, you can provide AI in the applications you define and generate with GeneXus Next Desktop. To do so, use the Agent object, the Embedding data type, the Chat Control, and Agentic Workflows.

All AI capabilities are powered through Globant Enterprise AI, which enables the necessary platform scaling and ensures independence from LLMs, regions, clouds, and cloud providers.

Text editors in objects

You can now experience the Text editors, improved Layout editors, and overall stunningly fast performance when executing GeneXus Next Desktop.

Certain objects like Transactions and SDTs contain Text editors that allow you to type and/or copy definitions from Samples or other objects.
